Cherie Chen, 23, menswear designer, Flatiron District

Chen cites "a reinterpreted Cruella de Vil" as the inspiration behind her 'do, which she's had for the past two and a half years. She gets her hair colored by Leslie Ingian at Salon 7 (110 E 7th St between First Ave and Ave A; 212-677-7399, salon7nyc.com) and cut at Roy Teeluck (5 E 57th St at Fifth Ave; 212-888-2221, royteeluck.com). "Diego Miranda is great at layering hair and listens to what you want," she enthuses.

Chen maintains her locks by using Pureology (pureology.com) conditioner. "It detangles and softens damaged and treated hair effectively," she notes.

Iman Sandimanie, 26; public-relations director; Ditmas Park, Brooklyn

"I wash, twist, style and sometimes even trim my hair myself, right in my bathroom," notes Sandimanie. "I've been growing my locks for about nine years. They're very long now, and I was tired of wearing them straight down or in a ponytail, so I started looking on YouTube for styles and tutorials. I came across the Chescalocs channel (youtube.com/chescalocs) and I was hooked!"

"I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree grooming pomade (paulmitchell.com) to twist my locks because it holds well without buildup," notes Sandimanie. "I also use Organic Root Stimulator (organicrootstimulator.com) olive oil moisturizing lotion and a little castor oil to prevent dryness."

"This style is super easy," swears Sandimanie. "I do it in the morning before work. It's literally just a French roll from the back to the front that's swooped to the side and held down with a few pins. I like to add the sparkle pin I found at Anthropologie (locations throughout the city; visit anthropologie.com) for a little pizazz."

Nick Magliato, 25, restaurant manager, West Village

"I'd categorize my hairstyle as rockabilly. I get it cut at Salon 13 (212 Ave B at E 13th St; 212-674-2056, salon13nyc.com) by Alx Alvarez, a celeb stylist who makes room for a guy like me," says Magliato. "She is downright amazing. I used to have shoulder-length hair; then one day I woke up and wanted a change. I brought an early-Elvis picture to Alx, and she did the rest!"

"I don't really use any hair products," admits Magliato. "I just use a little Redken (redken.com) forming paste to keep it all in place. It's odorless and it doesn't feel---or look---like anything is in my hair. Nothing is worse than seeing that guy on the street with L.A. Looks gel slathered in his hair."

Tom Tapit, 31; artist; Long Island City, Queens

"For the past three years, I have been going to a fantastic girl by the name of Christine Bartolillo, who currently works at Blind Barber (339 E 10th St between Ave A and Ave B; 212-228-2123, blindbarber.com)," enthuses Tapit. "My hairstyle is all Christine. I wanted a '50s look but with a current spin."

"I don't use any particular brand or swear by any [one product]," says Tapit. "I just try not to use anything that makes [my hair] become a rock. No need for a helmet as hair---I want it to be able to move."

Coco Campbell, 19, student, East Village

"I've had my hair long and layered forever, but the blond and the undercut are new for me," notes Campbell. "I'd been dying my hair red for about five years, so I thought it was time to change it up and go really light. A friend convinced me to shave the side in December, and then I bleached it at home a few weeks ago. I used to have mixed feelings about it, but now I totally love it."

"I just started going to Butterfly Studio (149 Fifth Ave between 21st and 22nd Sts, second floor; 212-253-2100, butterflystudiosalon.com), but I always have friends shave the side bit for me," says Campbell. "I love the look of the salon, and the cuts are really great." When it comes to styling her locks, Campbell reaches for Aussie (aussie.com) volume mousse. "My hair is straighter on top than it is on the bottom, so it gives my roots a boost," she explains. "Plus, it's cheap and it smells good."

Dennielle LaForte; 23, hairstylist; Bushwick, Brooklyn

"My hairstyle is actually a very much grown-out version of a fantastic asymmetrical cut that I'd gotten in August," explains LaForte. "I'd been pinning it up as it grew out, and finally let it free this week when it was pink. I get my hair cut at Devachan Salon (425 Broome St between Crosby and Lafayette Sts; 212-274-8686, devachansalon.com), where I work. The pink I did myself."

"I just kept listening to Ladyhawke and Fantastic Plastic Machine, watching documentaries about the universe and space, and doing lots of art with glitter," notes LaForte of the inspiration behind her hair's vibrant hue. "It was time to go pink."

"I am a loyal lover of DevaCurl One Condition, an ultra-hydrating botanical conditioner, and deeper conditioner Heaven in Hair," gushes LaForte. "Both are silicone-free conditioners that cleanse and hydrate all in one. Although my hair is bleached and colored, it feels incredibly soft to the touch."

Hayden Manders, 20, student, East Village

"I get my hair cut at East 6 Street Barber Shop (216 E 6th St between Second Ave and Taras Shevchenko Pl; 212-260-2504, eastvillagebarbers.com). The guys there are great and know how to do a proper barber job," enthuses Manders. "I get styled at a salon in Buffalo called LaBelle NY (labelleny.com). I go to them whenever I'm home to visit, and usually leave with a new cut, color or variation of the two. It's a beautiful little salon, and they offer amazing services and products."

Hayden Manders, 20, student, East Village

"My hairstyle hasn't changed much since winter of 2010---I've kept the sides shaved, with a textured top and longer front, because I feel like it works well with my head and face shape," recounts Manders. "The color, however, changes a lot. I started bleaching my hair at the same time I got this cut, and for a while I was white blond. I moved on to experimenting with streaks of color and gradients of pinks and oranges. The purple was a spontaneous decision. My confidence is higher when I have color---I feel more myself, really. I'm young."

"My favorite hair products are One 'n Only (one-n-only.com) argan-oil treatment, Simply Smooth Xtend Keratin Replenishing Magic Potion (simplysmoothkeratinnz.com) and Arrojo's (arrojostudio.com) hair-repair mask," reveals Manders. "These three items help restore and keep my hair healthy and prevent extreme breakage."

Lord Gavin McLeod, 25; fashion publicist; Williamsburg, Brooklyn

"I have my hair cut and colored by Cristin Armstrong at Takamichi Hair (263 Bowery between E Houston and Stanton Sts; 212-420-7979, takamichihair.com)," says McLeod. "Cristin is incredibly precise with her cuts and coloring. She takes the time to listen to what I want and finds the best way to do it. She is the only person I trust; her skills are impeccable."

"I had my hair really long and dark, and then went drastically blond and decided to cut it shoulder length," recalls McLeod. "Now I am just letting it grow out long again. I love the ombr color because it allows me to stay blond without being high maintenance. I love Drew Barrymore and Sarah Jessica Parker's hair. I thought it would be interesting for a guy to adopt that look."

"I love having my hair 'botoxed' by having the L'Oral Professionnel Fiberceutic Intra-Cylane treatment," says McLeod. "It fills the hair shaft, supports growth and duplicates the cells, so there's no need to trim. I also love the whole Oribe (oribe.com) line, especially the texture and volume sprays."

Manny Love, 27; musician; Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

"My hair is an expression of who I am," declares Love. "It makes you who you are, so it's good to think outside of the box and try different looks. I've had my hairstyle for two years and I actually do it myself. My hair came together so naturally; I began to twist my hair and I dyed the tips."

When it comes to cuts, Love leaves his hair to the professionals at Doogz Barber Shop (1647 Bedford Ave between Crow and Montgomery Sts, Crown Heights, Brooklyn; 718-363-1914). "[Owner Dwayne Adams Joseph-Duke] fades the sides and back of my hair, which brings the whole look together," notes Love.

"My favorite product is called Shea Moisture (sheamoisture.com)," says Love. "It's an organic hair product with coconut oil, silk protein and neem oil. It strengthens my hair, reduces breakage and leaves it with a brilliant shine."
