NYC kids are so cool, they even get their own film festival. Running through Sunday, March 16, the New York International Children's Festival is back for its 29th edition, taking over venues like the IFC Center, the School of Visual Arts, Scandinavia House and DCTV's Firehouse Cinema with several weekends full of kid-friendly programming.
Highlights on this year's lineup include the US premiere of the animated Frida Khalo biopic Hola, Frida; the East Coast premiere of A24's The Legend of Ochi following its Sundance debut; and the North American premiere of Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window, based on Japan’s renowned autobiographical novel by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi.
