Vital local avant-garde label Northern Spy teams up with Trans Pecos, the new venue helmed by DIY booker extraordinaire Todd P, to present a weekly series. The May 22 installment features sets from edgy guitar luminary Ava Mendoza and intense local chamber-prog crew Barbez, whose latest, Bella Ciao, features songs inspired by ancient Roman Jewish melodies and the Italian Resistance during World War II. The May 29 bill features exacting woodwind-rock ensemble Wei Zhongle and harrowing improv minimalists Period, while the May 30 bill skews art-poppy, with Skeletons and Cloud Becomes Your Hand.
