We at Time Out regularly report on the Empire State Building's color scheme celebrating holidays, organizations and other leading lights in the city, but on May 15 it will be saluting itself, Time Out and you, charming reader.

In the spring we asked New Yorkers to vote for their favorite parks, restaurants and other special spots in the city. After tallying over 130,000 Time Out Love New York votes we learned that, in fact, that the Empire State Building is locals’ most-loved landmark in our environs—take that, Statue of Liberty!

To reflect the love you’ve shown, the Empire State Building will beam red. You can look to the sky to see our magazine’s big ol' Bat-Signal illuminating from 9pm until 9:30pm (the night before their commemorative issue drops).

The Empire State Building is a modern marvel that represents human’s triumph over nature, our society’s engineering prowess, elegance and strength coalesced in concrete and steel. Though not since Tom Hanks couldn’t get a good night’s rest has the skyscraper exemplified adoration. Marvel on the scarlet spire Tuesday night, and if you happen to snap a selfie with you and your BBFF (best building for forever), we wouldn't be mad if you threw it up on Instagram with the hashtag #TimeOutNewYork, too.
