Taking the whole family to a Broadway show can get expensive fast. Luckily, one of the best theater deals of the year is coming back this month, with kids getting into some of Broadway’s biggest shows for free.
Kids’ Night on Broadway returns Tuesday, August 25, with 21 participating productions, including Wicked, The Lion King, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Outsiders, Hadestown, Aladdin, Stranger Things: The First Shadow and Maybe Happy Ending. (Two shows are doing things a little differently: The Great Gatsby and SIX: The Musical will offer their Kids’ Night performances on Wednesday, August 26, instead.)
The annual Broadway League program lets anyone 18 or younger attend a participating show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. While tickets aren’t on sale just yet, families can sign up for the free Broadway Fan Club to be notified when they drop.

And the deal extends beyond the stage. Kids’ Night ticket holders are also eligible for special offers at 15 Theater District restaurants on August 25, with many serving a free kids’ meal with the purchase of an adult entrée. Participating spots include Carmine’s Italian Restaurant Times Square, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, Havana Central, P.S. Kitchen, Schnipper’s and Virgil’s Real Barbecue. The Museum of Broadway and Top of the Rock are also getting in on the festivities with exclusive deals.
“Kids' Night on Broadway is one of our favorite traditions because it gives families the opportunity to experience the excitement of live theatre together,” Jason Laks, president of The Broadway League, said in a statement.
The program has been around since 1996 and has distributed more than 386,000 Kids’ Night on Broadway tickets since its launch. Just make sure to check the individual show’s recommended age guidance before booking: A free Broadway ticket is a great deal, but Paranormal Activity might not be the move for every seven-year-old.
