The midterm elections are less than a week away and, to spur New Yorkers to get out and vote, ride-sharing company Lyft is offering everyone 50% off rides to any polling site.

All you need to do to make use of the promotion is input code VOTE22 when ordering your car. The code, valid for up to $10, will be available starting one hour before polls open and one hour after they close. You can redeem the offering directly in the Lyft app or on partner bike-sharing apps like Citi Bike.

Although riding at a discount is clearly a big incentive to cast your ballot on Election Day, we do urge you to consider voting early to avoid potential lines and delays. Early voting is open now through November 6 but specific hours depend on your assigned polling site. You can find your early polling voting site using this website

We break down everything that you need to know about the 2022 midterm election in NYC right here but, as a reminder, this round of voting will allow New Yorkers to weigh in on their preferred House of Representatives and Senate members, governor and lieutenant governor, comptroller and attorney general.

Needless to say, midterm elections are extremely important, directly affecting the way the President of the United States of America can carry out his mandate for the remaining two years he’ll stay in office and potentially even affecting who will run and win the highest office in the country come 2024—so don’t take Election Day lightly. Go vote... and, perhaps, make use of Lyft's awesome discount code.
