If your ideal meal involves an unreasonable amount of toro, uni and wagyu, clear your schedule: one of the country’s biggest celebrations of sushi is coming back to the city this fall.

Sushi-Con will return for its third consecutive year on Sunday, October 11, taking over Pier 36 on the Lower East Side for six hours of unlimited seafood tastings, enormous tuna and more Japanese delicacies than most of us could reasonably eat in a month.

Organizers call Sushi-Con the largest consumer sushi festival in the United States. This year’s event is moving into a bigger venue with more than 60 exhibitors from the U.S., Japan and other countries, and more than 3,000 attendees are expected to descend on the waterfront venue.

So, what does “unlimited” actually mean here? Admission includes unlimited sampling throughout the festival, with bluefin tuna, amberjack, salmon, sea bream, sea urchin, scallops and caviar among the seafood on offer. There will also be Japanese A5 wagyu, matcha, yuzu, wasabi, specialty seasonings, drinks and desserts. (Admission includes unlimited samples from exhibitors throughout the festival, but dishes from participating restaurants cost extra.)

Sushi-Con’s signature tuna-cutting show is doubling up this year, with live demonstrations scheduled for noon and 3pm. During each, sushi chefs will break down a 400-plus-pound bluefin tuna onstage before attendees get to sample freshly prepared otoro, chutoro and akami.

“The excitement surrounding Sush-Con continues to grow every year, reflecting the increasing popularity of sushi and Japanese cuisine across the United States,” said Alex Choi, CEO of True World Group and president of Noble Fresh Cart.

Sushi-Con 2026 will run from 11am to 5pm on October 11 at Pier 36, located at 299 South Street. Full-day passes cost $180, while half-day tickets, valid from 2 to 5pm, cost $120. Tickets go on sale July 22 at 11am.
