Cue up the Paula Cole because it's finally time to return to Capeside—yes, millennials, after a solid 20 years of wishing and hoping, the cast of seminal '90s teen drama Dawson's Creek are coming together for a one-night-only reunion right here in New York City.
Airing on the WB for six seasons from 1998 to 2003, the series—which centered on the lives of a close-knit group of friends (Katie Holmes as Joey Potter, Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter, Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley and, of course, James Van Der Beek as our titular teen hero Dawson Leery) in a fictional harbor town in New England—was a groundbreaking one for the teen-TV genre, laying the soapy-yet-sincere foundations for future YA titles like The O.C., One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and Riverdale, among others.

So excuse our cringey excitement over the prospect of that aforementioned Fab Four—including fellow Dawson's Creek stars Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps—reuniting two decades after that fateful finale (Joey and Pacey 4eva!) for a live reading of the show's iconic 1998 pilot episode.
Performed in front of a live audience, the reading will take place on Monday, September 22 at the Richard Rogers Theatre in Midtown West. The event will benefit F Cancer and Van Der Beek, who announced in November 2024 that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Tickets go on sale at Broadway Direct on Friday, August 22 at 1pm ET.
“I am so excited to reunite with James, Michelle, Katie, Joshua, and our ‘Dawson’s Creek’ family for such a special night. ‘Dawson’s Creek’ changed my life,” show creator Kevin Williamson announced in a statement. “What began as a personal story about a young man and his friends navigating their way through the challenges of life became so much more than I ever dreamed. It created an enduring fandom and legacy all over the world. I am so honored to be a part of it and to support our beautiful friend, James, as we continue to navigate our way through life and its many challenges.”
The reunion announcement is just the latest in Dawson's-related news as of late. Former costars-slash-lovers Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson have been triggering our nostalgia by galivanting around the streets of New York City this summer together while filming Happy Hours, a new dramedy written and directed by Holmes and starring both actors. We won't complain though—we'll always welcome a little Capeside love in the concrete jungle.
