Remember the pure, unadulterated thrill of piling into a stretch limousine? Whether it was prom night, a wedding or an indulgent spin around town, there is an intoxicating magic to limo culture. Now, a powerhouse hospitality team has bottled that exact "we’ve made it" feeling and poured it into a glass at the East Village’s highly anticipated new destination: Limo Bar.
Founded by Reed Adelson (Virginia’s) alongside Creative Partner Jack Berry (Ray’s) and Beverage Partners Ian Alexander and Mario Firmani (both ex-The Dead Rabbit), Limo Bar is a love letter to high-low New York energy. It’s polished yet playful, nostalgic yet accessible and deeply rooted in the neighborhood.
Step inside the space, collaboratively designed with James Beard Award winner Julie Roberts, and you’ll immediately feel the '80s executive limo inspiration. There's warm wood paneling, mirrors, privacy curtains and long, wrapping banquettes that make you feel like you’re riding in style. The walls are delightfully obsessive, layered with vintage private car brochures, paparazzi shots and personal photos celebrating the universal truth that everyone has a limo story.
But you don’t just come for the cinematic interiors; you come for the flawless execution. The culinary program, led by Alex Baker (Rebelle, Yves), channels ultimate hotel room service and classic bar cravings. The menu features elevated, unpretentious staples like shrimp cocktail, mozzarella sticks, club sandwiches and steak frites.
At the center of Limo Bar’s identity is its meticulous beverage program, which puts martinis in the spotlight. Alongside signatures like The Chauffeur and the Pickle Martini, the undisputed star of the show is the Clean Dirty Martini. Brought to New York for the first time, this legendary cocktail—originally developed in Paris by iconic bartender Colin Field—features a frozen orb of olive juice encasing a single Castelvetrano olive. It starts crisp and dry, gradually transforming into a savory, dirty martini as the orb melts.
Limo Bar is an unpretentious yet polished neighborhood joint where New Yorkers can drink exceptionally well. It’s the kind of room that captures that elusive, comforting feeling of making it—and that's exactly why we live here.
Limo Bar is located at 33 Avenue B, open Tuesday through Sunday. Find out more on their website.
