After Eden, the Lower East Side’s newest all-day bar concept, is now officially open at 162 Orchard Street. It’s a chill cafe that shifts into something more sophisticated as nighttime approaches.

By day, the space is a bright, welcoming haven centered around Vietnamese coffee—like a robust cà phê phin, a rich, creamy cà phê muối or a tropical jackfruit banana latte with oat milk—perfectly paired with housemade pastries that are just a little different, like the fish sauce caramel kouign amann.

As the sun dips, so do the lights, and an entirely new concept emerges. The bar, helmed by founder Gelo Honrade, takes center stage, with a cocktail program that highlights Southeast Asian flavors with serious technique and a little bit of fun. There’s a Pho-tini, a savory martini with aromas inspired by Vietnamese pho and playful drinks like the Edenrita, My Pina Colada and Pizzahhhh.

For a little extra fun, try your luck with the bar’s Card Program. Draw a card from a custom deck, and the bartender interprets the draw to create a bespoke cocktail on the fly. "After Eden is about what happens once you leave paradise," says Honrade. "There’s curiosity, a little temptation and sometimes a bit of chance."

Adding to the temptation is Chef Nancy Nguyen (of Beaucoup NYC and Eleven Madison Park fame), who ensures the food is anything but an afterthought. Her menu evolves from limited-production, in-house bánh mì by day to expertly crafted Vietnamese small plates by night, designed to complement the cheeky cocktail lineup.

Music, evening events, pop-ups, takeovers and a happy hour are on tap and will be announced in the coming months.

So whether you’re seeking salvation through strong coffee or indulging in a little late-night temptation (perhaps in the secluded private room, "The Opium Den"), After Eden promises a bit of paradise.

After Eden is located at 162 Orchard Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and opens. It's open daily from 10am to 2am Tuesday through Saturday, 10pm on Sunday and 4pm on Monday.
