If your idea of romance involves flashing lights, cheering strangers and your face 10 stories tall, Times Square has you covered. The annual Love in Times Square celebration returns on Valentine’s Day 2026, giving New Yorkers and out-of-towners alike a chance to propose, tie the knot or renew their vows right at the Crossroads of the World.

Every year, the Times Square Alliance turns Duffy Square into Cupid’s command center. Couples can apply now for three distinct kinds of love stories: surprise proposals on one of the district’s iconic billboards, weddings in the heart of Times Square and the crowd-favorite vow renewal ceremony on the Red Steps. Each comes with a healthy dose of spectacle—and yes, a lot of people watching.

The most jaw-dropping option is the billboard proposal. Selected applicants will see their love story literally light up Times Square as a custom message blazes across a giant LED screen before the big question gets popped below. (Don’t get too far ahead of yourself, though—submitting an application does not mean you've secured a billboard proposal, the Alliance warns.)

If you’re ready to make it official, weddings in Duffy Square offer an unforgettable ceremony surrounded by Broadway marquees and a spontaneous audience of tourists. And if you’re already married, the Vow Renewal Ceremony on the Red Steps starts at 6 pm sharp and wraps by 6:30 pm, leaving plenty of time for dinner or a show afterward. The event welcomes couples of all ages and backgrounds and is completely free to join.

Love in Times Square is organized by the Times Square Alliance in partnership with Times Square Arts and applications for 2026 are open now on the Alliance’s website. Whether you’re planning a grand gesture or just want to steal a kiss under a million watts of light, this is one Valentine’s Day you definitely won’t forget.
