If Breads Bakery only sold its chocolate babka and nothing else, we'd still sing its praises to no end. But this exceptional Israeli bakery offers a stellar array of breads, pastries and sandwiches. So, naturally, we invited it to hold court at Time Out Market New York. We tasted its food, reviewed the eatery and had no hesitation in recommending Breads Bakery for a spot at the market. Here’s why:

Head over to Union Square for this 9,000-square-foot bakeshop. Grab one of 25 seats for a warm chocolate croissant or take out a box of the baked treats if you don't want strangers to see you licking chocolate off your fingers. You can also pick up a range of breads, including Danish ryes, fresh focaccia and crusty baguettes. Oh, and you can't leave without buying the chocolate babka, one of the best (if not the best) in the city.

You cannot go wrong with Breads Bakery. Everything here is spot-on, from simpler baguettes to more decadent pastries. Breads probably has the most delicious babka n the whole city. And the almond croissants, generally my favorite thing ever, are incredible. You can definitely buy beautiful, intricate loaves of bread here. The cheese breads are flaky, light and airy with just the right amount of sharp cheese baked on top. Breads Bakery also has a really well-priced café (and it's right near Union Square, so you can take everything to-go if you want to sit in the park). A smoked salmon sandwich for $7.50? Yes please.

Yes, chocolate babka is what you need to get here. Try it and you won't be disappointed. Some of their other regular bread loafs are excellent but the sweets and pastries are what this place is known for.

With three locations around the city, you don’t have to go too far to find a Breads Bakery. All of the bread is baked daily and you have options like assorted rolls, challah, herb bread, fig and walnut bread and much more. Check for daily bread specials. They also have delicious pastries and cookies. Try the granola cookies, palmiers, or the parmesan cookies for a savory treat. Besides amazing baked goods, Breads Bakery has a café menu as well. You can get coffee, sandwiches, soups and salads. Breads Bakery offers delivery on your orders and can also cater your event.

I'm so glad to see all the reviews on here - every time I've been it's been so empty! Going here on an early weekday morning is the best day to start the day - their coffee (Mauro brand) is excellent and their spinach and cheese berekas are unbelievably good.  Also - their cinnamon buns?! Ah-MAZING.  This is one of my favorite spots in NYC - if you haven't been here yet, you definitely need to go!!

Breads bakery has definitely become my favorite coffee shop around the union square area. In the summer, they have amazing ice coffee that's surprisingly robust. In the winter they serve up some really yummy hot chocolate. I love all of their baked goods and it's a great and casual area to meet up with friends. While you're waiting for friends, you can be productive since there is wifi in this quaint bakery. Recommend it!

Leaving four stars, only because the only item I've had from this bakery is the chocolate babka - and it's the best in town! It is especially great on a cool, crisp fall day and heated up a little.

My review is solely for the chocolate babka, which is deserving of five stars. I mean, it's a flaky, moist breakfast "pastry" with nutella and chocolate--your coffee is basically begging for it.

On par with Greens Bakery, which is found in certain supermarkets and Fairway, this is the best fresh babka I've tried.

Breads Bakery is what dreams are made of. From the second you step into the store, the amazing smell overwhelms you, and you just know that you cannot go wrong. Every single item here is delicious, but let's cut to the chase and get to what this Israeli bakery does best: Babka.

If you are not familiar with Babka, you better head to Breads Bakery NOW. It is basically the most delicious dessert, a mix between a loaf of bread and a sweet cake. Breads offers different flavors, all of which are yummy af, but do yourself a favor an order a loaf of Nutella Chocolate Babka.

That's all. Thank me later.

The smell alone is intriguing enough for anyone to enter. They give out free samples of their chocolate babka, which is to die for (coming from someone who doesn't really like chocolate)! They also have cute little sandwiches for breakfast, which are all delicious. It's a great place for coffee and a pastry or a light breakfast with a friend or colleague.

Breads Bakery is a welcome edition to a bakery less neighborhood. Since they opened, I have tried everything in the store. The breads and pastries are just plain delicious and everyday there is something new to taste. It is reminiscent of an old world bakery with the innovation of the present time. I give Breads Bakery 5 Stars. Welcome to Gramercy.
