Every summer, a certain Italian restaurant takes over the cobblestone streets of Bond Street for a communal feast. And you'll likely smell it before you see it, as the restaurant prepares a whole roasted pig right outside.
On September 27, il Buco’s annual Pig Roast is back. Chef Alex Napolitano will be roasting the beast outdoors, preparing a whole Heritage pork. The slow-roasted pig will be fashioned into porchetta paninis with blueberry mostarda and pork and apple sausage. Plates will be accompanied by panzanella salad, pasta alla Genovese and escalivada with Italian eggplant. Joining him in the kitchen will be chef José Catrimán of Ibiza's La Granja. The chef will be bringing seafood to the table, notably grilled octopus with chimichurri. The buffet-style feast also includes a dessert of apple ricotta fritters with Calvados.
Il Buco Pig Roast will be held on September 27 at the 47 Bond Street location. Time slots available for booking are from 1-3pm, 3-5pm and 5-7pm. Tickets are priced at $25 for a child's plate, $30 for vegetarians and $60 for an adult plate. A portion of ticket sales benefits Sky High Farm, a non-profit organization committed to research and action at the intersection of climate, agriculture, food access and education. Guests are welcome to add a donation to the farm when purchasing tickets. Reserve your tickets here.
