The arrival of José Andrés' D.C. restaurant Oyamel isn't just special because it was the first expansion of the concept since opening 20 years ago. But for him, it is even more personal as the location is close to where Andres first arrived in the States, many moons ago. Now open in a 15,000-square-foot space in Hudson Yards—just a few steps away from his all-day dining destination, Mercado Little Spain—the restaurant mirrors a colorful Mexican mercado with pops of colorful and butterflies that fill the interior. Surprise, surprise, the regional cuisine of Mexico can be found here, through freshly made tortillas, corn masa empanadas and large plates of Pollo al Mole and Lamb Barbacoa for sharing.
