Seahorse

John McDonald has proven he knows his way around the sea, as his longtime ship, Lure Fishbar, has served as a seafood beacon in SoHo since 2004. He seems to have done so again at Seahorse. 

Making waves inside the W Hotel Union Square, Seahorse is just as nautical as its sister restaurant, perhaps even a tick more so with yacht-style wood, blue mermaid scales that frame the back bar and a 40-foot hand-painted mural that hangs above the dining room, telling the tales of the ships, sirens and sea creatures. Selections from said waters follow with oysters plucked from the east and west coasts, crudo flights and tuna steaks seared and cut tableside like steaks, served with a trio of sauces for dipping. A shoo-in for dinner it is; those who sail over on Saturdays will be rewarded with a jazzy brunch. A la carte is always an option, with your choice of salmon towers and golden and incredibly buttery pancakes, or you can go prix fixe to add oysters on ice and unlimited spritzes of the Hugo and amaro variety to the mix.
