An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin

With few exceptions (notably two songs from Evita), this song cycle presents its titanic Broadway stars in subdued master-class mode, as though intent on evening out their odder edges. One might long to see these powerhouses blast their way down memory lane, but it’s also a pleasure to watch them craft memorable moments in the present tense.—Adam Feldman
