5 apartments Obama could afford to rent if he moves to New York

We’re guessing the Prez won’t need to worry about finding a roommate to split the rent

Rumor has it, once his presidency is over, Barack Obama would like to move his family to New York City. This is exciting news for New Yorkers, obviously. (Well…maybe not to Donald Trump. You wouldn't know it, because he's not very vocal about such things, but apparently he's not a fan. Who knew!)

What we're wondering, though, is where the Obamas will end up living? With a net worth of around $6.8 million, he could afford to buy a place even in Manhattan, but it's likely he'll earn a lot more than that once he leaves office: George W. Bush is said to have earned $15 million in public-speaking fees within a little over two years after walking out of the White House, while Bill Clinton is believed to have raked in $65 million between 2001 and 2009. With bank like that, the Obamas could afford to just splurge and rent a cushy pad wherever they want. Here are five suggestions, in ascending price order, courtesy of real-estate website Zumper. (Barack—any chance of a finder's fee if you go with one of these?)

Riverside Blvd; $19,000 per month

Clocking in at a very reasonable (if you’re, you know, loaded) $19,000 a month, this Upper West Side apartment sits right by the river near 63rd Street. It has a doorman, a gym, a laundry room and a rooftop deck. It is lacking any kind of unusually shaped office, however.

Riverside Blvd; $19,000 per month

With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for the kids, but there is a strict “no dogs” rule. Sorry, Bo.

The kitchen is small but functional—perfect for cooking all that healthy stuff Michelle is always telling us to eat (let’s see how long she stays healthy when she’s living in the same city as Cronuts and Shake Shack/Momofuku collaborations).

30 West St; $22,500 per month

Perched near the river in Battery Park City, this $22,500-a-month pad has sunset views and 3,287 square feet of luxurious space. However, with only three bedrooms, guests will have to stay on the couch. Sorry, Biden.

The apartment also has a no-pets policy. On the other hand, there is a fitness center, bike storage and a balcony. This one might require some tough choices, is what we’re saying.

30 West St; $22,500 per month

Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout offer spectacular views and endless sunlight. And if you open them, you’ll be able to smell the singular scents of both the Hudson and the West Side Highway. Bonus!

351 E 51st St; $27,950 per month

For an extra five-and-a-bit grand a month, the Obamas could get this place in Midtown East. They’d lose 100 square feet, but they’d gain both a fourth bedroom and a furry friend to sleep in it. (We mean, Bo, not Biden. Dogs are allowed in this building.)

351 E 51st St; $27,950 per month

As well as a gorgeous roof terrace, there’s in-unit laundry, assigned parking, a swimming pool and two floors of elegant space. Just thinking about being able to afford this place makes us want to cry.

The fancy dining area means the Obamas will still be able to entertain guests in style, although we’re guessing that they’ll give up on cooking within a month of moving here and spend their evenings eating takeout pizza while watching Netflix, like the rest of us.

923 Fifth Ave; $58,000 per month

Jumping up considerably in price, this Upper East Side den has stunning views of Central Park, five bedrooms, five bathrooms and central AC. But are the people who will end up living here really, actually happy? Huh? Are they? With all their money? Yeah, they probably are. Damn it.

923 Fifth Ave; $58,000 per month

As well as a stunning dining room, the apartment has a wet bar, plus a media room with a built-in A/V system, and built-in speakers are wired throughout the apartment. Meanwhile, the master bath has a Jacuzzi and steam shower. Feeling sick yet?

923 Fifth Ave; $58,000 per month

The Fifth Avenue condo also has walk-in closets and its own laundry room. Pets are allowed, so consider buying a very convincing Bo costume now if you want to sleep at the foot of the fanciest bed you’ve ever seen.

25 Columbus Circle; $89,000 per month

If the President really wants to make a splash, he can rent this 4,350-square-foot monster in Hell’s Kitchen. Sure, it costs a shade under 90 grand every four weeks, but another couple of memoirs will soon solve that little problem.

25 Columbus Circle; $89,000 per month

With five bedrooms and six bathrooms, this pad on the 75th floor of the Time Warner Center will make virtually any visiting guest gnash their teeth in envy, especially when they see the beautiful mahogany-paneled library and enormous media room.

There are two kitchens to choose from, and the views of the city are nothing less than breathtaking. As an extra bonus, pets are allowed here, too. Just think, a dog will live here. And you won’t. Life, huh?
