Empire State Building Run-Up

It takes 1,576 stairs to reach the Empire State Building's Observation Deck. Of course, reasonable people take the elevator, rocketing 86 floors in under a minute. However, a handful of brave souls decide to take on the climb each year, all in the hopes of earning the title of the fastest. 

On October 6th, the annual Empire State Building Run-Up returns in an over four-decade-long streak. Thrill-seekers from all over the world, including professional tower-runners, come to race up one of New York's most famous buildings, with record holders clearing all 86 floors in less than ten minutes. But if you aren't going for a personal best, don't worry; a number of runners make the climb just for the challenge of it all.

Registration is now closed, and participants have been chosen via lottery. If chosen, the price for the Run-Up is $200, which includes a T-shirt, a medal and the glory of saying, "I've run up the Empire State Building for funsies."
