What is the FIFA Club World Cup?

It's FIFA's new flagship global club competition. This June and July, 32 soccer teams from around the globe are competing against one another in matches across the United States. Now, the top teams will advance to the semi-finals and final, right here in our region.

Why is it such a big deal?

It's a chance to see some of the most powerful soccer teams in the world right here in our backyard. Some of the teams who have reached the knockout rounds include Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Flamengo, Monterrey, Juventus, and the United States' own Inter Miami, led by iconic superstar Lionel Messi.

These giants of the game are all competing for club soccer's most prestigious prize—as well as a chunk of the eye-watering total prize money pot of $1 billion.

"It's true that the most successful clubs in the world have already played matches in the United States," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a press release. "However, this will be the very first time that the world's very best clubs contest for real silverware on U.S. soil in a true tournament format—and it's not clubs competing for just any silverware, but rather the most coveted trophy in club football."

Where is the event?

Games are taking place across the United States, but one of the quarter-finals, both of the semi-finals and the final itself will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (One MetLife Stadium Drive). With a capacity of 82,500, it is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL, and it will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final as well.

The stadium is about a 20-minute drive from Midtown Manhattan (with no traffic). If you're driving or taking a taxi/Uber, familiarize yourself with parking and drop-off locations. You can also beat the traffic and use public transit; the stadium lists transit advice via bus and train.

When are the big games happening?

MetLife Stadium's quarter-final will take place at 4pm on Saturday, July 5 before the semi-finals are held at 3pm on Tuesday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 9. Then, after a few rest days, the final will take place at 3pm on Sunday, July 13.

How do I get tickets?

Buy tickets through FIFA's website. Semifinal tickets start at $232. Tickets to the final start at $693. Keep in mind that tickets will not be sold at MetLife Stadium. The stadium ticket office is closed for all sales through July 13, 2025, the venue announced.

"Those who buy a ticket, well they will be part of football history, part of soccer history, if you want," Infantino said.

Who's playing the halftime show?

There's not just an impressive lineup of sports stars; musical stars will be in the building, too. J Balvin, Doja Cat and Tems will headline the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup Final Halftime Show on July 13.

How to make the most of the experience

If you're a big soccer fan, you might already have a team and specific players you're rooting for. If not, no worries—there's plenty of time to solidify your allegiances. You can catch up on the Club World Cup highlights with videos on FIFA's website.

What is there to eat at MetLife Stadium?

When you're not engrossed in the game, there are plenty of food and drink options to keep you satiated. Concession stands include Global Pies baking up empanadas, Nonna Fusco's Kitchen serving meatball sandwiches and WingMan NYC dishing out a variety of wings. Plus, you'll find all the stadium musts, from hot dogs and nachos to popcorn and cotton candy. Here's the full rundown of dining options.

What else do I need to know?

Be sure to familiarize yourself in advance with the stadium's bag policy, so you know what you can bring.
