Time Out says

Ahead of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, learn about the Flatiron neighborhood's haunted history with a guided tour

On Sunday, October 29, join the Flatiron NoMad Partnership and Fred Cookinham, a professional tour guide and history buff, on a free, spooky walking tour through the historic Flatiron District.

The 90-minute "Tour of the Dead"—which will kick off at 11am at the Flatiron Building on West 23rd St off Fifth Avenue—will guide visitors through scary and haunted sites in the neighborhood, as well as filming locations for hit movies like Godzilla and Spider-Man and other notable culture spots, including the Harry Potter New York flagship store, the waxwork emporium Eden Musée and the city’s most popular Halloween destination, Abracadabra, which has offered costumes, accessories, makeup, and magic on West 21st for three decades.

Participants will also explore some of the neighborhood's most notable landmarks, including the MetLife Clock Tower, the Appellate Courthouse, the famous Flatiron Building and the only surviving 1850s row house near Madison Square Park. It will also delve into so-called "architectural ghosts," i.e. buildings that are no longer standing, including the onetime home of author Edith Wharton.

The tour will take place rain or shine and requires no advance registration to attend. Simply show up (wearing good walking shoes, of course) and enjoy!
