Time Out says

Light up this winter solstice week during the Lantern Festival & Spiral of Light for the Winter Solstice at Domino Park in Brooklyn on Tuesday, December 20 at sunset (5pm).

All are invited to gather along the Williamsburg waterfront, which will be transformed into a glowing maze that guides visitors through lanterns and candles. The symbolic event welcomes visitors to celebrate the idea of carrying light and sharing it with all on the shortest day of the year. All participants are encouraged to bring a lantern so that a spiral of lanterns and light can be created at the center of the celebration. The completed spiral will be open for all to walk through, serving as a metaphor for life experiences and cycling through internal and external feelings.

Activities are free and include hot chocolate and caroling. The event is hosted by Domino Park and the Secret Lantern Society of New York.
