After two or three days in Paris, one thing becomes clear: this city is out to get your wallet. Between cafés where a black coffee costs more than a sandwich back home and museum tickets rising faster than inflation, you’ve got to play it smart if you don’t want to be financially floored before your trip is even halfway through. And finding a nice place to sleep without blowing your budget? Even harder. Or so you thought

What are hotel prices like in Paris?

Yes, let’s get this out the way first. A cheap room in a pricey city like Paris isn’t going to be cheap from every perspective. Hotel prices here are steep  up there with London, New York and the rest of it – so it’s good to set out what your budget constraints are first. For this list, we’ve only included hotels that come in under €150 per night. For two people, that’s pretty well-priced by Parisian standards. And it’s worth saying that these hotels are ones you’ll actually want to stay in: no grim dorms or sketchy showers in sight.

Tucked away in the 15th arrondissement near Parc Georges-Brassens, La Conversation is a three-star hotel that blends charm with a chilled vibe. There’s a stylish wine bar on the ground floor, a sunlit veranda, and a leafy patio – ideal for warmer days – with free tea and coffee available all day. Rooms are a bit titchy, starting at just 10m², but their thoughtful design makes them feel cosy and snug (rather than, well, titchy). It’s an affordable, well-designed spot with personality

Forget the days when you had to spend a fortune to find a stylish hotel in central Paris. Take Hôtel du Temps, for example. Located right opposite Square Montholon in the heart of the Poissonnière neighbourhood, it offers rates similar to soulless three-star chain hotels – but delivers a completely different experience. The interiors, designed by fashion designer Alix Thomsen and architect-scenographer Laura Léonard, are bold, elegant and timeless, with a playful retro green, vintage furniture and Haussmann-style details.

Time Out tip: There’s a spirits bar on the ground floor and a great private room in the basement for parties. And their breakfast? One of our favourites in Paris.

Address: 11 Rue de Montholon, 75009 Paris, France
Price: Starting from €120 per night
Closest transport: Poissonnière Metro Station (Line 7)

4. Babel Belleville

Travel far without leaving the city – that’s the quirky concept dreamed up by hotel entrepreneur Joris Bruneel and Franco-Afghan chef Claire Feral-Akram, Babel. This Belleville hotel invites guests to explore the world while staying rooted in the local neighbourhood. Daphné Desjeux’s designs are vibrant and eclectic – a kind of organised chaos that mirrors the spirit of Belleville, with limewashed walls, raffia leaves, velvet banquettes and colourful trinkets. Room prices are kept in check, and thoughtful touches make all the difference – like oriental pastries from La Rose de Tunis served with coffee from Brûlerie de Jourdain.

Time Out tip: For a real escape, guests can book a zen massage (€60 for 45 minutes) or try an energising ritual that combines sound and scent bathing (€120 for 75 minutes).

Address: 3 Rue Lemon, 75020 Paris, France
Price: Starting from €100 per night
Closest transport: Belleville Metro Station (Lines 2 and 11)

Hotel Panache is a stylish four-star hotel situated at the corner of Rue Geoffroy-Marie and Rue du Faubourg Montmartre in Paris's 9th arrondissement. Designed by Dorothée Meilichzon, the hotel features 40 rooms with neo-Art Deco interiors, including damask fabrics, gilded wood, patterned carpets, and Parisian metro-style tiling in the bathrooms. Each room showcases curved rattan headboards topped with glowing orbs, creating a unique and elegant atmosphere. Guests are welcomed with fortune cookies. Cute.

6. TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen

TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen taps into the trendy co-living concept with an American-style twist. The idea is to rethink the hotel as a kind of giant shared flat – a laid-back space that’s great for remote working. Already established in Batignolles and La Défense, the TRIBE brand stands out for combining style and modern comfort at relatively affordable prices. The spacious communal areas are designed as extensions of the rooms (which range from 17 to 24 m²), and are ideal for settling in from morning to night with a coffee or a ‘nolo’ cocktail (no or low alcohol). They’ve even become popular with locals from the surrounding area.

Address: 33 Boulevard Jean Jaurès, 93400 Saint-Ouen, France
Price: Starting from €113 per night
Closest transport: Mairie de Saint-Ouen Metro Station (Lines 13 and 14)

This small Left Bank hotel blends eras with real flair. Here, 19th-century-style wallpaper sits beautifully alongside colourful contemporary tiling, and most of the décor comes from the personal collection of Vanessa Scoffier – former fashion editor at Marie Claire and the hotel’s owner – including a Guariche coffee table, a Knoll sideboard, and a Platner armchair. Each of the 32 rooms are unique, with bold graphic or geometric wall décor in deep navy or mustard tones, sometimes evoking the style of Mondrian. In many ways, Hôtel Henriette taps into the widely embraced Scandinavian style found across Paris – but with that extra touch of soul that makes you feel right at home.

Time Out tip: We love the warm dining room on a summer’s mroning, which offers a lovely view of the charming patio.

Address: 9 Rue des Gobelins, 75013 Paris, France
Price: Starting from €129 per night
Closest transport: Les Gobelins Metro Station (Line 7)

The ‘secret” room at Hôtel Cabane is constantly booked – and for good reason: it’s hard to find anything quite like it in the capital. A leafy, rustic cabin designed as a true breath of fresh air… right in the middle of the city (and recently redecorated by Selency!). Granted, it’s not ‘perched’, but you reach it by crossing a small footbridge – which makes it completely independent from the rest of the hotel, to the point where it almost feels like you’re hiding out in a forest somewhere. Beyond the cabin, the hotel also offers ‘classic’ and ‘deluxe’ rooms, with clean-lined, contemporary design.

Address: 76 Rue Raymond Losserand, 75014 Paris, France
Price: Starting from €94 per night

9. Mob Hotel Paris les Puces

Outdoor cinema, organic restaurant, coworking space, terrace, and vegetable garden… Behind a thick red brick wall, what you discover isn’t just a hotel but an entire ecosystem. Welcome to MOB! Launched by Cyril Aouizerate (co-founder of Mama Shelter hotels), MOB Hôtel stretches across 92 rooms: a place to sleep, yes, but also to move around, read, have lunch, dance… People come here to enjoy excellent organic pizzas, take a rooftop yoga class, watch locals tend to their small plots, or attend an open-air screening with headphones on in Saint-Ouen, right near the flea markets.

Time Out tip: In its eclectically decorated restaurant, you’ll find a 100 percent organic, vegan-inspired menu (and table football).

Address: 6 Rue Gambetta, 93400 Saint-Ouen, France
Price: Starting from €85 per night
Closest transport: Garibaldi Metro Station (Line 13)

10. Hôtel Arvor Saint Georges

Bargain alert: nestled between Place Saint-Georges and Rue des Martyrs, in a neighbourhood not exactly known for its generosity, the charming little four-star Hôtel Arvor is a real hit without emptying your wallet. An ideal location, tucked away on a quiet street near all the delights of SoPi, it also boasts a lovely little interior courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine at the end of the day. In the rooms, you’ll find refined, vintage furniture and murals drawn on the walls in a playful, naive style reminiscent of Cocteau’s sketches or Picasso’s doves. (Very) sweet dreams!

Address: 8 Rue Laferrière, 75009 Paris, France
Price: Starting from €120 per night
Closest transport: Saint-Georges Metro Station (Line 12)

  • Gare de l'Est

Another four-star hotel that stands out for its low prices. After opening its first location at Porte de Versailles, the OKKO hotel chain (also present in Toulon, Nice, and Grenoble) chose the Gare de l’Est area for its second Parisian nest. The group’s two guiding principles, sustainability and surprise, translate into establishments that are always environmentally friendly while reinventing themselves with each new opening, whether in design or offerings. If their address on Rue d'Alsace particularly caught our eye, it’s because of its lobby with bubblegum-like volumes and colours, imagined by Milanese designers Studiopepe.

Address: 30 A Rue d’Alsace, 75010 Paris, France
Price: Starting from €109 per night
Closest transport: Gare de l’Est Metro and train station (Lines 4, 5, 7 and mainline services)
