Experience art in the city at the fifth edition of travelling artist's studio and gallery Art Encounters, which has put down roots at Bugis Town. Visit from August 31 to October 3 to immerse yourself in a multi-sensorial installation by featured artist Chloë Manasseh, who's known for her colourful landscapes and imaginative paintings.
There are three containers to visit at Art Encounters x Bugis Town, each offering a distinct experience. Visit the Welcome Container to learn more about the Art Encounters initiative, and also to see more works by RSCLS, the local art collective behind the painting on the external facade of the container.
The highlight is at the Gallery Container and Studio Container. Head down anytime between now and September 3 to watch Manasseh in action as she covers the metal facade of the container in large-format botanical paintings – offering an escape to nature in the heart of Bugis Town. Bean bags are available for you to sit and watch her work, or if you like, to leave your own artwork on its canvas.
Studio Container pays homage to Bugis's seafaring history. Manasseh has transformed the interior into an immersive exotic escape. Tread over the sea-like resin floor that has been embedded with flora and fauna, get close to a wooden boat installation and admire the cascading flowers around you. If you notice a fragrance in the air, that's a custom ambient scent that the artist has designed in collaboration with home-grown fragrance label Scent by SIX.
As part of Art Encounters, you can also go on a treasure hunt for more of Manasseh's installations hidden around Bugis Town. There's also a special contest and exclusive retail deals pegged to the event – check out the full details here.
