You just can't go wrong with a spot that names itself after the iconic tipple. Since 1988, it has been serving up hearty Mexican fare and of course, margaritas. But if you're looking to up the ante, ask the bartender for a Machetazo mezcal margarita.

Smoke and Mirrors got out of the think tank with a brilliant contemporary take on the margarita. Inspired by "wok hei" aka the smoky kiss of the wok, tequila is fat-washed with Cured Chinese Lap Cheong sausage, then shaken with Cointreau, Mezcal, and a homemade lime cordial topped with a crisp dried shrimp wanton cracker. A final touch of delicate Lap Cheong smoke delivers a multi-sensory experience, all in one tipple.

Good Intentions' twist on the classic is the Strawberry Margarita, it opts for fresh, seasonal fruitiness and honey-like agave to create this smooth-tasting, berry-tangy rendition. The use of the Altos Blanco Tequila here brings balance; lending a herbaceous, citric and peppery bite to this fruity showstopper.
