Formerly known as Astor Bar, the new St. Regis Bar has a moodier ‘old money’ vibe compared to the light-hued, turquoise-and-champagne regality of the eponymous hotel it’s set in. It’s no less grand, of course, boasting 90s Manhattan-inspired interiors in rich jewel tones, and a wall of brass birdcages where spirits are proudly displayed. Whether you’re staying overnight or not, this sophisticated drinking spot is one to bookmark for a glitzy evening out.
Its ‘Time After Time’ menu pays homage to both St. Regis’ New York history and Singapore’s heritage, with each cocktail crafted to represent a specific era in time – from the roaring twenties, to Singapore’s tea dance culture in the ‘60s, and the peak of the disco movement. We recommend the Merlion Sling ($28), the bar’s rendition of the classic Singapore Sling with a rojak gin twist. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with The Straits Mary ($25), a local take on The Bloody Mary, first created by bartender Fernand Petiot at The St. Regis New York in 1934. A full-circle moment worth saying cheers to.
Time Out tip Seeking an elevated daytime dining experience? The hotel’s Italian restaurant Sophia offers glasshouse vibes beneath glittering chandeliers.
