Five reasons to hop on It’s the Ship 2015

If you haven’t already booked your cabins for the floating dance music festival, maybe this will help. One of our editors made the 'voyage' last year, caught the likes of Basement Jaxx, Dash Berlin and – yes – Sasha Grey, and still managed to come back in one piece. Besides the sick line-up, here are five more things you can look forward to.

The music’s as constant as the waves
Leave your cabin in the morning, EDM. Munch on your cereal, EDM. Lounge on a deck chair watching the horizon, EDM. The 4/4 thump will never leave you once you’re onboard – so if you wanna put your dancefloor credentials to the test, It’s the Ship will push you.

Getting sloshed has never been easier
The booze is much cheaper than at your average night out in Singapore, but that’s not the real reason why. It’s the fact that stumbling back home doesn’t involve flailing your arms like a madman for a cab and then proceeding to throw up all over said taxi. Your cabins are just a lift ride from all the action, so go ahead and drink up.

Beach, better have my party
The second day on this year’s itinerary is blocked off for a massive beach party on a sunny swathe in Langkawi. And if it’s anything like the one before, this is gonna be the highlight of the event. Chill vibes, lotsa beers and one rapper named Lil Jon turned up last year, and another marquee act is promised in 2015. Remember to pack your shades.

There’s eye candy everywhere
Let’s see. Here’s a dance music festival, on a cruise, attended by throngs of 20-somethings who happen to be staying in college dorm room-like proximity. We’ll leave you to figure this one out. Here’s a hint: the welcome pouch we received last year contained three condoms.

You won’t go hungry
Those late-night, post-alcohol munchies are as easy to satisfy as hitting an elevator button. We became close pals with the 24hr buffet restaurant on the vessel – not only because it had a serious spread but because it’s free. That’s right, say it with me, folks: Free.

It’s the Ship 2015 sails from Nov 20-23.
