How’s that head feeling? Good? Glad to hear your post-holiday hangover’s sorted, because this issue is going to get loud. Welcome to 2016, the year athletes descend upon Rio for the Olympics, the year England crashes out of the first round of the Euros (sorry, Rooney fans), the year of the Monkey, and the year that other ape named Donald Trump gets his come-uppance (sorry, apes). Yeah, 2016’s gonna be hu-uge.

So we’re kicking it off with the volume cranked to 11. In our cover story, we’ve put indie rockers, DJs, club bookers, a capella singers, rappers, classical musicians, and what-have-you together in one bitchin’ brew – hear them talk about what it means to be a musician in Singapore. It’s also the month that the city turns on the dazzle for Singapore Art Week. Nine days of exhibitions, fairs, talks and tours – it’s not just about Art Stage, people! – await, so brush up on your artspeak and dust off that beret.

And for those who are about to shop, we'll salute you, too – with an A-Z list of local labels, designers and boutiques you'll want to check out and update your wardrobe for the new year. Speaking of which, here's to a great one!
