A dizzying mixture of old and new, Singapore is where tradition meets modernity. Centuries-old temples and buildings from our colonial era sit alongside financial towers, incredible attractions and air-conditioned shopping malls. It’s these vivid contrasts (and the multitude of great things to do, of course) that attract millions of visitors to the Southeast Asian city-state each year – and many more find themselves passing through en route to Europe or Australia. If you need a place to stay at or near Singapore Changi Airport, look through our list of the best airport hotels that the city has to offer and get ready to rest your head in comfort and luxury.
Best SIngapore airport hotels
A reliably lux option at Changi International. From the lattice-covered exterior to the chicly decorated foyer, this place screams casual opulence. All rooms have a minibar, flatscreen TV and en-suites with rain showers, while there’s a landscaped pool to enjoy outside. A covered walkway takes you straight into Terminal 3, while if you’re flying from Terminal 1 or 2, you can simply climb aboard the monorail and zoom off to your destination.
Aerotel Transit Hotel offers hourly accommodations at the Transit Lounge in Terminal 1 of Singapore Changi Airport. Adjacent to Gate D41, this transit hotel is fully equipped with an outdoor swimming pool, a poolside bar, a fitness centre and a library so you know you won't be bored during transit.
Located at Terminal 2, The Ambassador has all your creature comforts sorted with free wi-fi, flatscreen TVs and a desk. There’s also a fitness centre if you need to stretch your legs after a long flight. There’s no dining available, but you’re surrounded by places to eat and drink at the airport itself. Plus, there’s a terrace where you can watch planes come and go. A good, mid-budget go-to.
Another mid-range option, The Haven is based at Terminal 3. It’s a good one to think of in terms of convenience, rather than luxury: it has 24-hour service at the front desk, and there’s also a business area for those who need to sit down with their laptop for a while. Free Wi-Fi is also available and there's a kids’ corner to keep the little nippers entertained while you’re waiting for your next flight out.
It might not be based within the confines of the airport but you’d be foolish not to at least consider Changi Cove. It’s just a short walk from the beach and is surrounded by all the lush greenery that you’re never far from in Singapore. Each room is air-conditioned, has Wi-Fi and a doodle wall – just in case, y’know, you want to get artistic. Set your alarm early, make sure you’ve arranged a taxi with the front desk and this makes very good airport accommodation indeed.
Another one in the Changi Beach area and just a fifteen-minute drive from the airport. This a large establishment, by contrast, features a rooftop pool and hot tub that offer views across the South China Sea. The Saltwater Café offers a variety of Chinese and international dishes and if you have any spare time around your flight, the ferry to the island of Pulau Ubin is just a 10-minute walk away.
Moving away from the Changi coast and inwards towards the city, Changi Business Park makes for a good alternative for business travellers looking to stay close to the airport. Park Avenue Changi has contemporary rooms fitted with iPod docking station, free Wi-Fi access and is five minutes away from Singapore EXPO convention and exhibition centre. Changi City Point shopping mall is also located right next door and Changi Airport is a convenient direct train ride away.
Another hotel located in the heart of Changi Business Park is the upscale Capri by Fraser, which is a five-minute drive to the airport via its free shuttle or a direct MRT ride away. The spacious studios are well-equipped with kitchenettes, walk-in wardrobes and a living room with a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and an iPod docking station.
