Time Out says

It’s rare for a hotel to make an impression the moment you step out of the taxi, but The Singapore Edition is full of rare qualities. You're greeted by warm bellhops who instantly make you feel like a VIP as well as the hotel's signature scent of black tea and orchids, which floats through the gauzy drapes and straight into your senses.

The Singapore Edition marks the brand’s first foray into Southeast Asia. Anchored on the edge of Singapore’s glitzy Orchard Road, the hotel is a collaboration between renowned Safdie Architects and local studio DP Architects, the same creative forces behind architectural icons like Jewel Changi Airport and Marina Bay Sands.

Inside, the 204-room property feels less like a traditional hotel and more like the light-filled mega apartment of your most stylish friend – the one with an art collection, a soft spot for biophilic design, and an eye for drama. Think floor-to-ceiling glass, sun-drenched spaces, curated installations and a gold-leaf-domed lobby that’s pure theatre.

Why stay at The Singapore Edition?

Not every hotel lobby inspires a full-on photo shoot, but this one practically demands it. From the spiral staircase that has taken over every Instagram feed, to the lush pockets of green that'll have you wondering how many gardeners the hotel has on staff, every corner is considered, elegant and quietly extravagant.

And while many of Singapore’s legacy five-star hotels lean classic (read: slightly tired), The Singapore Edition is a strikingly modern alternative. It’s luxurious without the pretense, stylish without trying too hard, and refreshingly unafraid to make a statement.

What are the rooms like at The Singapore Edition?

The guest rooms are designed with restraint and taste. Expect elegant neutral palettes, layered textures and clever design touches like hidden doors that provide privacy without overwhelming the eye.

We stayed for one night in the Garden King Room, which stands at a spacious 38 to 47sqm with a king-sized bed, sitting area and a round table that doubles as a desk or breakfast nook. The bathrooms are equally roomy, with twin sinks, a rainfall shower right by the soaking tub, and thoughtfully separated toilet and bath areas, making getting ready a breeze.

What are the dining options like at The Singapore Edition?

At Fysh at Edition, award-winning Australian chef Josh Niland introduces Singapore to his acclaimed "fin-to-scale" approach, where no part of the fish goes to waste. The bold and inventive menu includes dishes like fish-bone noodles in buttery sauce and cod-fat chocolate tart. It’s daring but still familiar and approachable, an elevated take on surf and turf if you will.

The design of the restaurant is just as arresting: soaring ceilings, chartreuse velvet booths, Calacatta marble and of course, lots of plants.

For drinks, you’re spoilt for choice. At the rose-hued Lobby Bar, the neon pink pool table anchors the space, while The Punch Room serves spice-forward communal cocktails in a blue and moodier setting. Wander over to the Wonder Room, where the drinks are classic and the vibes are upbeat or head up to The Roof, a relaxed poolside venue for Southeast Asian small plates and tropical tipples.

What's the spa and pool like at The Singapore Edition?

Wellness is taken seriously here. The third-floor spa is a tranquil, sensorial retreat complete with its own white tea scent that marks a separation from the rest of the hotel. There's a vitality pool, steam room, dry sauna and various treatment rooms offering everything from massages to facials. The adjacent gym is kitted out with Technogym equipment and more than enough space to stretch out post-flight.

On the rooftop, a 43-metre pool offers sun loungers, shaded nooks, and one dramatic surprise: a transparent viewing panel that looks directly into the garden courtyard below. It’s a view best enjoyed with SPF in one hand and a spritz in the other.

What's the area like around The Singapore Edition?

The Edition places you right in the heart of Orchard, Singapore’s premier shopping and dining destination. You’re minutes from both haute couture and street eats, cinemas and concept stores.

Why you should book a stay at The Singapore Edition?

In a neighbourhood where new openings and high-profile revamps are the norm, The Singapore Edition sets itself apart with a fresh, contemporary vision of luxury. It’s effortlessly stylish without being showy, and thoughtful in all the ways that matter. Come for the design, stay for the atmosphere, and return for the kind of quietly impeccable service that makes the city feel like home.
