New hotels have been popping up in Singapore like nobody's business, and one addition to the crop is The Singapore Edition by luxury boutique brand Edition Hotels. Now open in the heart of Orchard Road, this is the brand's first outpost in Southeast Asia.
The Singapore Edition is designed by Safdie Architects and local studio DP Architects. As expected from the same people behind Jewel Changi Airport (Safdie Architects), the 204-room hotel is a picture of tropical sophistication. Design highlights include an impressive white, marbled lobby with a domed ceiling, and a light-filled conservatory with a biophilic green wall. The property also boats a lush skypark and sunken garden, so you can enjoy an escape in nature right in Singapore's busiest shopping belt.
Guests can also look forward to a stunning rooftop pool and terrace. Lined by daybeds and greenery, the 43-metre-long pool reveals a surprise when you dive in – transparent acrylic has been set into the white-tiled base for a view into the garden courtyard many metres below.
There's something for the gastronomes too. First is Fysh at Edition by acclaimed restaurateur and award-winning chef Josh Niland. As Niland’s first restaurant outside of Australia, the establishment will be centred around a “fish steakhouse” concept centred on Niland’s famous “fin-to-scale” philosophy with ethically sourced seafood. Elsewhere in the hotel are Punch Room, Edition's signature bar concept where bartenders will shake up unique punch cocktail menu inspired by Southeast Asian spices; The Lobby Bar, a swanky lounge area furnished with Christian Liaigre doe leather chairs and crowned by a rose-coloured pool table made from calacatta marble; and The Roof by the pool, serving Southeast Asian dishes and cocktails.
Rounding out the luxury experience is The Singapore Edition's signature spa. Seven treatment rooms offer indulgences like vitality thermal pools, an ice fountain, relaxation lounge, sauna, and steam room. Complete your wellness routine with a visit to the gym just adjacent to the spa.
