Frequent explorers of Singapore’s nature trails will soon have fresh grounds to traverse, with the upcoming Bukit Timah Turf City estate getting a new nature park. It’s not just another regular neighbourhood park – this green node is set to be the ninth park in our extensive Central Nature Park Network, an interconnected web of nature spots including Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Chestnut Nature Park. The Central Catchment Nature Reserve sits right in the middle of it all, as a protected area rich in wildlife.

According to the National Parks Board of Singapore (NParks), the new park at Bukit Timah Turf City will connect Eng Neo Avenue Forest and Bukit Tinggi via a lush 100-metre corridor, and most of the forestry will be retained in an effort to conserve its biodiversity. This is despite a high volume of housing projects in the works as part of Turf City’s revamp.
NParks reports that a wildlife study by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has pinpointed 177 plant species and 25 animal species in these areas that should be safeguarded, including the Straw-headed bulbul and critically endangered Sunda pangolin.
Bukit Timah Turf City’s new park could be as large as 40 hectares, which sure is a significant amount of land space. Learn more about the upcoming new plans for Bukit Timah Turf City here.
