80% of the ocean remains unexplored. And the 20% we have reached? Most of us will never see it in person. That's where this exhibition comes in.

Opening June 6, 2026, at ArtScience Museum, Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath is a collaboration with OceanX, one of the world’s leading ocean exploration organisations. The exhibition takes you from sunlit waves to the pitch-black abyss, showcasing marine life few humans have ever seen.

You’ll glimpse rarely seen deep-sea species and immerse yourself in stunning visuals, sensory elements, contemporary art, scientific specimens, and interactive science curated by marine biologists, environmental scientists, creative technologists, and artists. Together, they reveal a multispecies world where ocean health and humanity’s survival are fundamentally connected.

The coolest part: the exhibition features footage captured by OceanX's research vessels, including the OceanXplorer – one of the most advanced ocean exploration ships in the world. Much of this footage has never been publicly displayed.

The experience is mapped as a journey through five ocean zones:

Descent: Glide through shades of blue as the surface world gradually recedes.

Photic Zone: Where sunlight still reaches. Microorganisms, plankton, and environmental DNA from Singapore’s Southern Islands are brought vividly to life.

Twilight Zone: Dim waters reveal deep currents and temperature gradients that regulate Earth’s climate.

Aphotic Zone: Encounter surreal landscapes and extraordinary creatures that thrive under extreme pressure and perpetual darkness, a reminder of how much of the ocean remains unexplored yet is fundamental to life on Earth.

Resurface: Return to the surface to learn about marine restoration, including seagrass ecosystems and coral specimens on loan from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum. Interactive experiences allow direct participation in seagrass restoration in Singapore.

Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath runs from June 6 to November 1, 2026. Ticket pricing and sale dates will be announced soon. Follow ArtScience Museum for updates here.

ArtScience Museum is located at 6 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018974, and opens from 10am to 7pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 10am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday.
