Eight bars in Singapore have made the coveted Asia's 50 Best Bars 51-100 list, making us the city with the most number of entrants on the extended list. The 51-100 reveal comes a week ahead of the live award ceremony in Hong Kong, when we'll find out the top 50 best bars in Asia as voted by the awards' 260-member Academy of bartenders, bar owners, drink writers and cocktail aficionados.
Big congratulations go to Last Word (No. 61), a hidden cocktail bar on Purvis Street conceptualised by the same folks behind Nutmeg & Clove, which itself features on both Asia and The World's 50 Best Bars lists. We also have three new entrants to the list, namely The Elephant Room (No.64), Night Hawk (No.73) and Offtrack (No.79). And to cap it off, we have Tippling Club at No.63, No Sleep Club at No.74, and Origin Bar & Grill at No.95.
22 different cities across Asia are also represented in the 51-100 list. Topping the extended list is Seoul's Charles H at No. 51 and Taipei's To Infinity and Beyond at No. 51. Hong Kong also makes a strong showing with the all-woman team at The Pontiac (No. 53), joining by four other bars from the city including Mizurana The Library (No.86), The Wise King (No.89), Tell Camellia (No.97) and Honky Tonks Tavern (No.98).
Our neighbours in Southeast Asia also showed up well, with Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok represented by four bars each. Coming out tops in Kuala Lumpur is the city's rum bar JungleBird at No.55. And the next time you're in Bangkok, you might want to hit up Opium (No.59), a luxurious speakeasy hidden the fine-dining restaurant Potong in the Samphanthawong neighbourhood.
