Checkpoint Theatre is presenting its first wave of new works, offered for free or on a pay-as-you-wish basis. From June 6 to 12, the theatre company is providing access to The Heart Comes To Mind – via an intimate audio recording. Written by Lucas Ho and directed by Claire Wong, the honest and poetic exploration of the shifting current between father and daughter will leave you examining and celebrating your own life. The production was slated to run from April 23 to 26 as part of Esplanade's The Studios Online. And while it was initially announced that the production will be presented as a theatrical experience on online video, that has since been put to a halt due to the 'circuit breaker'.

In July, check out Two Songs and a Story, an online festival of songs and monologues directed and dramaturged by Huzir Sulaiman. Sit back and be entertained by five writer-performers - weish, Anthea Julia Chua, Inch Chua, Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai, and Jo Tan – who will move you with their honest and profound insights into the human condition.

Below, a full schedule of what you can expect from Checkpoint Theatre this June and July:

June 6 to 12 'The Heart Comes To Mind', written by Lucas Ho, directed by Claire Wong

July 2020 'Two Songs and a Story', written and performed by weish, Anthea Julia Chua, Inch Chua, Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai, Jo Tan, directed and dramaturged by Huzir Sulaiman

June/July 2020 'A Grand Design', written and performed by Cheyenne Alexandria Phillips, directed and dramaturged by Chen Yingxuan

“This is history unfolding,” says Joint Artistic Director Claire Wong, “And we will tell stories to get us through these times, and we will be here in the future to tell stories about these times.”
