Ever wondered about the duration of the longest flight in the world? That would be a whopping 19 hours, which makes mid-haul plane trips sound like easy game in comparison. Good thing that this flight is operated by Singapore Airlines, because whatever butt-numbing pain of being stuck in the sky is made less insufferable when you’re in the hands of the second-best airline in the world, also Asia’s number one.
The longest non-stop air travel route in question is between Singapore’s Changi Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City, USA. While heading from Singapore to NYC takes 18 hours and 40 minutes, the journey back clocks in at a slightly longer duration of 19 hours and 15 minutes.
While quite a number of other popular airlines, including Emirates, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Eva Air, offer flights to New York’s JFK airport, Singapore Airlines is the only one that has a non-stop route. There’s no doubt about which airline to choose if you’re someone who experiences anxiety regarding layovers, or simply can’t stand further drawing out an already long flight with a stop in between.
Prices for a direct round trip between Singapore and New York City (JFK) start from around $1,800, according to our search on the Singapore Airlines app. It’s a tad steep compared to non-direct routes, but as the saying goes, time is money.
