With its oriental theme and iconic twin pagodas, the verdant Jurong Lake Gardens already sets the scene for the perfect Mid-Autumn Festival celebration amidst nature. This sprawling park is set to glow even more magically over the next few weeks with the return of Lights by the Lake – an annual light-up held specially for the occasion.
From September 27 to October 12, 2025, various areas of Lakeside Garden and the revamped Chinese and Japanese Gardens come alive as a triple treat, with lantern displays that bring to life an ancient Chinese dreamscape. This year’s set-up is inspired by the legend of Journey to the West, with each handcrafted lantern charting the story of the Monkey King Sun Wukong’s quest for enlightenment.

The Cloud Pagoda’s riveting light and sound show, which first debuted earlier in the year during Chinese New Year, also makes a comeback after its initial stellar reception. This happens in 30-minute intervals from 7.30pm onwards during the aforementioned dates.

Those who wander will be rewarded in the form of multicoloured garden illuminations. Key spots to check out include the Sunken Garden with rainbow-lit canopies overhead, as well as the Lakeside Field where fluttery wing-themed installations take centrestage – it’s almost as though you’ve wandered into a fairy grove.

Other highlights include lantern riddle sessions, a roving art truck, and graceful dance performances by the waters on select nights. Don’t miss the free live cultural showcases and music performances featuring the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, and talented local buskers.
