Expect a different view when you're out and about in the Marina Bay district tonight: at 8.30pm, the iconic glistening Singapore skyline will just get a tad dimmer for a whole hour.

In line with the annual Earth Hour, lights will go out across the globe in landmarks, office buildings, homes and more. This landmark conservation movement that puts the environment in the spotlight happens tonight (March 24, Saturday) at 8.30pm to 9.30pm. This year's edition shines light on the global plastic crisis and how our excessive usage of plastic is detrimentally impacting our natural environment – join in the conversation using the hashtag #uselessplastic on social media.

So now that the lights are out, what do you do? We hear ya. Browse the Earth Hour Marketplace for some eco-friendly goods or just chill out by the bay – there are a slew of performances by local musicians lined up all the way till late at night. There's also no better time to visit i Light Marina Bay, the sustainable art light festival, and check out the various artworks that'll no doubt shine brighter tonight than any other night. Else, if you're feeling a little, err, frisky – check out our list of secret make out spots to get your tongue tangle on.

Earth Hour happens tonight (March 24, Sunday) at 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Join in the movement by switching off your lights!
