The show has played across Broadway, the West End and multiple international cities – tickets will go on sale from May 5

The air’s about to get a little heady at Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands, as Moulin Rouge! The Musical gears up for its Southeast Asia debut in February 2027. Part of its first-ever world tour, the multi-award-winning production arrives with an international cast and all the glitter-drenched drama synonymous with Australian film director Baz Luhrmann’s universe.
Set in Paris at the tail end of the 19th century, the story centres on Christian, a young American writer who falls headfirst into the decadent world of the Moulin Rouge nightclub and its star performer, Satine. Their romance quickly tangles with money, power and control – namely the club’s impresario Harold Zidler and a wealthy duke who believes he can buy his way into Satine’s life.
What distinguishes the stage version apart from the film isn’t just the plot, but how it sounds. Rather than sticking to a single composer, the show is built as a mash-up score, weaving together more than 70 songs across 160 years of music. You’ll hear everything from classical influences to modern pop artists like Lady Gaga, Adele and Beyoncé, all reworked to fit the narrative.
Expect elaborate sets, dense choreography and a visual style that mirrors the film’s over-the-top aesthetic, from cabaret opulence to full-blown theatrical extravagance. It’s also one of the most decorated modern musicals, picking up 10 Tony Awards (including Best Musical), alongside an Olivier Award and several other international honours since its 2018 debut.
For now, the early access waitlist is open via Base Entertainment Asia until May 3, 2026 (11.59pm). Other ticketing dates to look out for include:
