Noci Bakehouse at Suntec City serves cottagecore with a side of pretty pastries – here's our review

Snack on salt bread, bagels and more at this new Korean bakery in Singapore

It's 2026, and salt bread still has a chokehold on us. The latest one we tried comes fresh out of the oven from Noci Bakehouse, a new Korean bakery-café in Suntec City. The space has that distinct European farmhouse aesthetic – think rustic trinkets and white paint over wood, accompanied by the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread.

We swing by at 3pm on a weekday to a full house, but thankfully, no queue. There are two seating areas – on the snug side – with the main dining area tucked behind the bakery and against the glass windows. As you make your way inside, you'll pass by a selection of cute merch on display, ranging from mugs to tote bags, all sporting the Noci Bakehouse logo. 

The range of bakes at Noci is definitely impressive. The counter is lined with everything from salt bread in various flavours and fillings, to the bakery's cube-shaped 'tissue bread', as well as the standard petits gâteaux or mini tea cakes like financiers and madeleines, piped with colourful icing and coming in flavours like matcha, earl grey, raspberry and blueberry.

We imagine those golden-brown financiers ($4) to go well with tea or coffee – slightly crisp on the outside, soft, chewy and buttery in the middle. Unfortunately, it's the only clear standout among everything else we tried. The classic shio pan (salt bread, $4) ticks the boxes visually, but the bread is dense rather than light and pillowy, the base lacking that signature crispiness, and the rich, buttery centre that makes shio pan so addictive is noticeably missing.

The matcha shio pan with red bean ($6.50) looks and sounds interesting at first, but turns out to be quite the odd combination. The matcha cream filling, dusted generously with matcha powder, makes each mouthful slightly bitter and overwhelming. It does get better when you finally hit the azuki at the bottom, but there's not quite enough of it to balance out everything else, and the salty base only adds to the confusion. We have higher hopes for the mentaiko shio pan ($6.80) which comes with a slightly spicy filling, but they are dashed by the – again – dense, and even slightly stale texture of the bread, not to mention a slightly burnt base.

Beyond just grab-and-go pastries, Noci Bakehouse also offers a decent selection of all-day brunch on its dine-in menu, with everything from a full English breakfast plate ($12) to salads, sandwiches, French toast and soups. Sink your teeth into the roasted chicken sandwich ($13), which uses Noci's house-made bagel. The bagel itself is excellent – chewy and airy at the same time – but the fillings, which comprise chicken breast, cheese, shimeji mushrooms, red peppers, Dijon mustard, rocket leaves and lettuce, don't quite gel well together, despite being coated in the same sweet mayonnaise sauce.

That sauce finds itself again in the apple and walnut garden salad ($8.50). The toss-up includes rocket, caramelised walnuts, celery, apple and blueberries, and while it starts refreshing, it ends up being a tad cloying thanks to the heavy-handed mayo dressing. For $8.50, it is still worth a try if you're craving some greens in the midst of munching on carb-heavy pastries.

Drinks-wise, there are the standard espresso-based coffee options (from $5 for an Americano). Our iced peanut cream latte ($7.50) arrives with a rim of peanut crumbs for extra texture, though the latte itself is milkier than we'd like it to be. You might find something you like among other drinks, like the cinnamon cream latte ($7) or strawberry matcha latte ($7).

Time Out's rating: 3/5

Noci Bakehouse is a pretty addition to Suntec City's F&B lineup, with its wide selection of trendy bakes and cottagecore interiors, but that's about all that it offers. A little more consistency would go a long way (weeding out pastries that have been overbaked, for instance), especially given the steeper price points. That said, it does the job if you're craving a midday snack or just want to pick up something on the way home. We'd say it's still worth a shot – just manage your expectations before visiting.
