Call it a concrete jungle if you will, but Singapore’s Downtown area is one of the buzziest spots on the island. Yes, it’s home to scores and scores of skyscrapers and office buildings – but also brings the gift of large-scale arts events, fireworks during special occasions, and top-notch hotels and attractions that both locals and tourists love. This densely packed district is only about to get more exciting in the coming years, according to the latest version of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Draft Master Plan.

The expansive Downtown Core, which encompasses the Central Business District and the further waterfront areas of Marina South, will welcome plenty of new developments. You’ve already heard about the
massive new Therme Group wellness attraction near Gardens by the Bay with thermal pools, art, and green spaces. There’s also The Skywaters, a 63-storey Shenton Way building which will house the upcoming luxury hotel and residences, Aman Singapore. Joining this is a handful of other mixed-use developments across Tanjong Pagar, Marina Bay, and Beach Road with offices, homes, and leisure options.

One key highlight to look forward to within this year is the new Passion Wave Outpost @ Bayfront, with community sports offerings including kayaking, pedal boating, and dragon boating. Nearby, the NS Square, slated for completion in 2027, will be host to concerts and future National Day Parades.

Other additions include a park between Asia Square and Marina One; a refreshed version of Raffles Place Park; cycling paths and sheltered walkways to promote more car-lite accessibility in the Anson-Tanjong Pagar area; and more open spaces for public gatherings.
