Hold onto your broomsticks – Glinda and Elphaba might be heading your way. We heard it through the grapevine that Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are rumoured to be coming to Singapore to promote the film sequel Wicked: For Good, which is set to hit cinemas on November 21. The duo has already captivated audiences worldwide with their performances in the first film, which won two Academy Awards. The final chapter sees the two estranged and living with the consequences of their choices.

The rumours started making rounds on social media after eagle-eyed fans spotted a tiny, tantalising detail in the mechanics of Universal Pictures Philippines’ singing competition: Awiting Wicked 2.0: A Celebration of Filipino Voices. The competition was announced on September 8 by Wicked director Jon M. Chu on Universal Pictures Philippines' TikTok page

But here’s where it gets interesting: the contest promises that the three winning duos will star in a music video for the musical's iconic tune ‘For Good’, plus enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore to meet the cast, including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The winners will be chosen by Chu and the stars themselves – cue mass 'holding space' energy from fans everywhere.

While nothing’s been confirmed in Singapore just yet, the whispers alone are enough to have fans spellbound – especially hot on the heels of Wicked’s stage run at Sands Theatre earlier this year. If Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo do touch down in Singapore, expect red carpets, all-out promo glamour and a dose of musical magic that might just leave the Emerald City green with envy.
