We’ve had immersive exhibitions and afternoon tea inspired by the likes of Impressionist Claude Monet. But at the core of all these modern Instagram-worthy experiences are paintings by one of the world’s most celebrated artists of the 19th-century French art movement. Impressionism isn’t simply an art style that’s easy on the eyes; it was a whole movement that subverted the rules of academic art, a form of soft rebellion, if you will.

Delve into this iconic art period with Into the Modern at National Gallery Singapore – Southeast Asia’s largest French Impressionist exhibition with seven thematic sections and over 100 artworks, all on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Seventeen pieces by Monet aside, the three-and-a-half-month showcase features masterpieces by other driving forces behind this distinct art movement, including Renoir, Degas, Cézanne, Pissarro, Sisley, Morisot and many more.
Fun fact: None of the art from the exhibition has been displayed in Southeast Asia before.
