Brilliant news for those on the hunt for an accessible holiday destination in 2022 – Thailand is resuming its Test and Go quarantine-free entry programme from February 1, said its coronavirus task force on Thursday (January 20).

With the Test and Go scheme back in place, travellers to Thailand are now only required to test on arrival and again five days later. They must also agree to have their movements tracked. Those who are keen can start applying for the visa on February 1.

And what's a holiday without some revelry? In another bit of good news, the task force also announced that restaurants can now serve alcohol up till 11pm, compared to 9pm before. Bars and nightclubs will remain closed, but we take what we can get.

Now that Covid-19 cases are easing, the country seems to be taking serious steps to treat the virus as endemic and revive its battered tourism sector. Another similar scheme, the Phuket Sandbox tourism programme, will also be expanded to include Krabi, Phang Na and islands in Surat Thani (including Kho Samui, Ko Tao and Ko Pha Ngan).

Singapore's vaccinated travel lanes (VTLs) freeze also ended today, which means that we can enjoy two-way quarantine-free travel with our fellow Southeast Asian country again. Knowing that, will you be booking tickets to Thailand once February rolls around?
