We tried McDonald's latest menu (includes the famous chocolate pie!) and here's our verdict

You know the drill. Each time McDonald's presents a new offering (ehem looking at you nasi lemak burger), we're always ready to give our thoughts on it. And this time, the fast-food chain is whipping up something a lil fishy. Its latest Fish Season menu features three new creations including a Fish & Fries set, sweet chilli fish burger and that famous chocolate pie which went viral when it launched in Korea some time ago.

Alright, enough talking let's dive right into it.

Fish & Fries (from $7.90)

We're actually quite impressed with McDonald's version of the classic fish and chips. Initially the fish reminded us of the typical frozen fish packets from the supermarket, but we're surprised at the equal batter to fish ratio (albeit oily, but hey, it's a fast-food restaurant after all). The side here is just your regular ol' French fries.

Sweet Chilli Fish Burger (from $7.50)

Think of this as the atas version of the Filet-O-Fish burger. It uses the same fish as its Fish & Fries meal and packs lettuce and sweet chilli mayo in a hot dog bun. There's nothing new or innovative about this one, so the overall verdict: meh.

Chocolate Pie (from $1.40)

Call us bias, but this one's an obvious winner. We've set our sights on this chocolate lava goodness since day one and we're glad it's finally made its way to our shores. We had ours lukewarm (we think it's best eaten fresh out of the oven) but the gooey chocolate still hit all the right spots. 10 out of 10, would definitely buy it again. Fair warning though, it's gonna be a messy affair.

Available at any McDonald's restaurant island-wide after breakfast hours from Mar 1 – for a limited time only.
