World’s rudest restaurant Karen’s Diner to pop up in Singapore only in mid 2023

An open call to all the Karens out there, the Aussie-based American diner concept is opening in Singapore for its first Asia pop-up. Save your one-star reviews on Google, this restaurant found tik-tok fame from its great burgers with a large side of rude service. If you didn’t already know, the popular term “Karen” is used to describe an entitled and obnoxious middle-aged woman – typically making a mountain out of a molehill in public and then demanding to see the manager when things don’t go her way.

Not for the easily bruised

The twisted dining experience is an all-out roast and you’re the main target. Expect a sassy series of disses – with the occasional flip of the bird – to come along with your meal. The waitstaff will judge your outfit, sing obnoxiously, and talk smack. If that isn’t enough humiliation for you, just ask for the manager – though we think it's worth playing along.

You can certainly clap back if you’re sassy enough. But if you’re wondering how far they can take it, house rules are implemented to keep everyone safe from any actual abuse. Both ends are to steer clear away from any physical contact as well as racist, sexist, homophobic, discriminatory or sexual remarks.

And if you're wondering what's actually on the menu, a quick look on the Karen’s Diner website shows a spread of typical American diner grub: juicy burgers, thick milkshakes, hearty hotdogs, decadent sides and booze. Contrary to the bad service, delicious food is known to be served here. This is definitely not your warm and fetid truckstop grub spot in a nudist town of Indiana.

Still in the works

The good people in charge of the pop-up shared that Karen's Diner is estimated to only actualise in mid-2023 as things are “still in the early phases”. We also know that the menu will most likely remain the same – though we hope to see local twists to burgers or shakes to better connect with the diners in Singapore. Eager beavers can now register to be on the waitlist to receive first-hand updates on this unique dining experience. But for now, it is stay tuned Singapore!

Get on the waitlist.
