Simply put, having kids doesn’t come cheap. They might be going into their first year of school or perhaps they’ve just recently learnt how to walk, but either way – you’ll eventually need to dig into your savings. Since we’re now in the midst of June school holidays, take the chance to bring your children out for a hearty meal. At these 10 restaurants, it isn’t just that they have a children's menu, but they also have freebies and dining promos* just for kids.

*As all dining deals are subject to terms and conditions, make sure to check with the restaurant directly that these promotions are still valid.

Free meals for kids

  • Restaurants
  • Italian
  • Bukit Timah

There’s an endless choice of kid-friendly restaurants in the Holland Village area, but it's La Nonna that’s our top pick. You wouldn’t find beautifully-plated fine dishes here, but rather, unpretentious and hearty Italian food. With a selection of pasta and wood-fired pizza, it’s the perfect choice for a weekend lunch out with the family. Try the Linguine Al Granchio ($26) for a pasta tossed with generous chunks of crab meat, or or the La Nonna ($24.50), a pizza which comes topped with asparagus, egg and black truffle.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS On Sundays, kids (3 to 10 years old) dine for free – they can choose either an 8” pizza or small pasta with every accompanying adult. Whether they pick the Hawaiian pizza or carbonara, they’re bound to be pleased.

  • Restaurants
  • Mexican
  • City Hall

In the heart of Chijmes is a Mexican taqueria bar, serving up fruity Margaritas and sangria jugs. At Senor Taco, what else would you order but several of the tacos? Try the Baja fish taco ($17) which is stuffed with tempura toothfish, or the crunchy wagyu beef taco ($22) that’s drizzled with an avocado salsa.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS Make weekends your taco day out, since kids can eat for free on Saturdays (2-5pm) and Sundays (12-10.30pm). With a special kids menu, they can feast on chicken nuggets and chicken quesadilla.

With two cafés in the heart of town, The Assembly Ground is often filled to the brim with families and young couples. It's the truffle fries ($14) and crab pomodoro spaghetti ($24) that most flock over for, and now with their June school holidays promotion where kids get to eat free, you can certainly expect a full house. Kids can choose a deep fried breaded chicken, spaghetti with battered fish, or a mini fish and chips.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS With every a la carte dish ordered, kids (12 years and below) get to eat free. Available only from now to June 26.

It's all about ice-cold pints of beer and hearty pork knuckles over at Paulaner Bräuhaus. There’s an all-you-can-eat special ($48 per person) on weekends from 11.30am to 2.30pm, so make sure you go hungry. Tuck into schnitzels fried golden brown, sausage platters and oven-roasted pork knuckles. Wash it all done with free-flow beer and wine for an additional top-up of $20.

Senshi Sushi & Grill

Japanese food is always a family favourite, and it’s no different at Senshi Sushi & Grill. This buffet restaurant along New Bridge Road offers a ready choice of sushi, sashimi and cooked dishes, starting from $45 for lunch. Get ready to feast on dishes like truffle chawanmushi, pork yakiniku and unagi maki roll. Children will certainly enjoy the California hand rolls and garlic fried rice.

  • Restaurants
  • Sentosa

This particular restaurant is an oldie but goodie, with one in Sentosa and the other in Orchard Road. While known for casual American diner dishes, like BBQ bacon cheeseburgers ($29.95) and slow-cooked baby back ribs ($41.95), the kids menu (for 12 and under) isn’t half bad with hot dogs and grilled chicken breast.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS Head down during weekends from noon to 5pm for kids or MOE school vacation weekdays from 3pm onwards to enjoy a free meal (worth $12). Available with each adult main course ordered from the a la carte menu.

  • Restaurants
  • Serangoon

This Aussie eatery is nestled in Serangoon Gardens, a neighbourhood filled with plenty of good food. But what sets Plonk apart is that they dole out Melburnian-style brunches, like smashed avo served with feta and poached eggs ($16), Buddha bowls ($16) and even beer battered barramundi with chips ($25). There’s also a kids menu (all dishes priced at $12), ranging from bangers and mash to a classic mini margherita pizza.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS On Sundays, Kids under 7 years can score a free meal with every meal or pizza ordered. If you order from the kids menu, children under the age of 12 will get a free dessert – one scoop of ice cream with a topping.

There’s nothing more ideal for quality family bonding than gathering over a hot pot meal. At Thai-Chinese steamboat restaurant Coca, opt for the buffet (from $36) for a bevy of seafood, meat, fresh vegetables and steamboat faves – like shrimp paste and stuffed beancurd skin. Go heavy on the thinly sliced beef or pork, or if you’re there for dinner, the flower crab, oysters and prawns.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS With every two paying adults, children under 11 years will dine for free.

  • Restaurants
  • Marine Parade

At Café Melba, they serve up quintessential brunch fare – expect the usual favourites like eggs Benny ($23) and buttermilk pancake stacks ($14). They’ve got a few outlets all around Singapore: Mount Sophia, Mediapolis and Goodman Arts Centre. But it’s the kid’s menu that has caught our eye. While kids eat free every Monday, as long as you purchase a full-sized main too, they also offer a range of healthy, child-friendly meals for just $13. It’s simple but tasty nosh, with the likes of pan-seared fish with steamed vegetables or beef bolognese. Each meal comes with a choice of chilled juice or fresh milk.

KID-FRIENDLY PERKS Kids eat free every Monday, with the purchase of a main meal. It’s also worth joining the Kids Club – after 15 stamps (one per visit), there’ll be a complimentary kid’s meal with every full meal ordered.
