What started as a home-based bakery has since grown into a physical storefront along Joo Chiat Road. Wunderfolks is a takeaway-only, tart-focused patisserie that comes fronted by an adorable bear mascot. The sweet shop prides itself in its handmade tart shells, which come packing in more butter content.
They then serve as fragrant bases for a variety of smooth, luscious fillings ($8 each, $42 for six): popular options include Fruitilicious, where custard spiked with Madagascan vanilla comes crowned with seasonal fruits; tangy lemon meringue; and Valrhona dark chocolate encased within dark cocoa shortcrust pastry.
Other standouts include the lychee, filled with lychee- and rose-scented mousse, perfumed with lychee-raspberry whipped ganache to create a light and aromatic treat; and the locally inspired Hey Sesame, made with smooth black sesame ganache for a nutty punch.
Tarts can also come in larger formats ($45) for celebratory occasions, with halved options for more variety.
