"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall," Fitzgerald once said. And Autumn's the perfect time for a do-over, especially this year. We may not be blessed with the four seasons here in the Lion City, but there are various ways you can switch off and enjoy a different experience – from dining at our best garden restaurants to booking a staycation that transports you overseas. Hey, we lowkey enjoy the occasional pumpkin spiced latte, but there are many more ways to ring in the new season. These Autumn experiences in Singapore will transport you to faraway lands without getting on a plane.

Keep an eye out for Singapore's tropical 'autumn'

Not many people know this, but Singapore's streetscape mimics Autumn annually thanks to the presence of Ketapang Trees (or 'Sea Almond Trees'). These coastal trees are native to Singapore and have leaves that turn from dark red to yellow before shedding. After shedding, the leaves grow back, forming purple-hued foliage.

The result? Crimson sea almond trees and golden leaf showers that can be found at East Coast Park, Pasir Ris Park, along the Central Expressway (CTE) between Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 to Braddell Road, and more. In the past years, this typically happens from October to December – so keep your eyes peeled whenever you're out in these areas.

We may have a perpetual summer in Singapore, it's always autumn at this new café at Maxwell Chambers. Step into Kreams Krafthouse and you'll find an autumnal escape, with maple trees in varying hues of orange and yellow decorate the ceiling of the space.

Settle down under the canopy of foliage and sip on aromatic brews best paired with some freshly baked scones. Warm yourself up with a cup of coffee, or go out of your comfort zone and try one of the highlights from this Korean-inspired café such as the Summer Latte ($10), where coffee comes served with a scoop of ice cream, and the Dalgona Latte ($8), its version of the whipped coffee fad that has taken over social media.

Feeling peckish? Bite into one of the scones (from $4) in flavours of Dalgona coffee and sweet potato. Others include cranberry and yuzu – fruity accents that, according to a waitstaff, help complement the bold brews.
