Singapore may be a concrete jungle, but we've got no shortage of beautiful public parks and stunning waterside trails to enjoy. And we're stepping things up, with new parks, gardens and nature ways adding hundreds of hectares of green spaces for Singaporeans to hike, cycle and enjoy. What's great is also the effort being put into making these spaces inclusive for all ages and abilities – with the inclusion of multigenerational playgrounds and facilities. Ready to head outdoors? Here are four new parks and nature ways to enjoy in Singapore.

Singapore's making good on its promise to be a city in a garden. The new Labrador Nature Park Network will bring a whopping 200ha of green spaces to the Labrador and Alexandra areas. Look forward to four new parks, the first being a 0.4ha park at King's Dock which will be completed by 2024. Following is a 2ha Alexandra Nature Park, a 6.5ha Berlayer Creek Nature Park and finally, a 7ha green haven integrated into a planned housing development at Keppel. The new park network will also add an extra 30km of trails and connectors – plenty of space for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers to enjoy in the years to come.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Gardens by the Bay launched a brand new attraction – the Active Garden. This is a meeting point for people across generations to connect with one another through physical, social and learning activities. Located along the waterfront promenade facing Marina Bay, the Active Garden boasts a community garden, two lawns, fitness equipment for all ages and abilities, and even a pet-friendly cafe, Mylo's. It's absolutely free of charge to enjoy the facilities at this new attraction, and there are even future activities planned at the community garden for you to learn all about growing edibles. Not strictly a nature way, the new cycling path in Guillemard Road is nevertheless a boon for cyclists in the East who want to travel seamlesly to the city. The 1.2m-wide path – which ia part of the Geylang-City Active Mobility Corridor – was built to link the existing Geylang and Sims Avenue Park Connectors. Now, it has been widened to a 3.8m-wide pavement with an exclusive cycling path to keep riders and other users separate. Shelter and a bypass path for cyclists has also been added at Grandlink Square, and another path that will connect Queenstown to the city is in the works. With these enhancements, you can cycle safely and comfortably from Geylang and Kembangan to the Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang and Gardens by the Bay. That's a win in our books.

The next time you're taking a stroll in Pasir Ris Park and Bedok Reservoir Park, fit in some free therapy at the new therapeutic gardens within. The first of their kind to be built in the east of Singapore, these gardens were designed to encourage the public's interaction with nature and improve well-being. At Pasir Ris Park, expect scenic coastal views and a view of Singapore's kelongs. There's also a fitness area with playing elements such as a xylophone, balance beam and slider, wooden benches, a labyrinth lawn, and different planting zones. Over at Bedok Reservoir Park, you can admire the reservoir while training mindfulness at the rock balancing section. For something more physically taxing, check out the intergenerational fitness centre.
