Mid-Autumn Festival is getting a cute twist this year, with the Sanrio-themed ‘Garden of Lights’ pop-up at VivoCity’s Sky Park. Welcoming you at the entrance is a giant floral display arranged to look like Hello Kitty, accompanied by a neon-lit rainbow. Walk on in and you’ll encounter an enchanting flower-shaped Hello Kitty Garden Maze, where a giant statue of the mouthless cat-like character stands tall in the middle.
More fun awaits at the Sanrio Characters Enchanting Garden. Here, you’ll spot other Sanrio favourites – including Cinnamoroll, My Melody, Kuromi, and Gudetama the lazy egg – frolicking among a garden swing, watering can, and larger-than-life blooms.
Take a stroll through the Sanrio Character Friendship Bridge, a vibrant walkway of rainbow-hued arches. Also decorating the structure are familiar Sanrio motifs like bows, sweets, shooting stars, and Kuromi’s skull emblem.
Admission to this Sanrio Mid-Autumn Festival pop-up is free, and it’ll be running from August 31 to October 1 2023. While the installations only light up from 6.30pm onwards, you can enter the Sky Park anytime between 10am to 10pm.
While there, you might as well take the chance to pop by the Sanrio Summer Wunderland Collection pop-up store at FairPrice Xtra within the same mall, which will be up and running till the end of September. This is where you can snag adorable Sanrio Building Blocks kits ($17.90 for minis, $29.90 for main models) that are suitable for both adults and young 'uns to busy their hands with. Find your favourite Sanrio characters in various summery scenes such as juice bars, carnival rides, and a pool café.
