If you’ve been keeping up with the headlines recently, you will know there are murmurings of new plans to clear parts of Singapore’s forested areas for housing, which has stirred quite a bit of concern. And if you, like the rest, are worried about what this might mean for the future of our island’s green spaces, then free up your afternoon on August 16.
Save the Date: Maju is led by the youth eco-socialist collective SG Climate Rally, in collaboration with workers, residents, and fellow nature lovers. The gathering at Hong Lim Park is a response to the proposed deforestation of various forested areas, including Maju Forest. Over two hours, come together through song, poetry and speeches to advocate for the protection of local green spaces. There will also be opportunities to discuss land use, share perspectives, and reflect on what is lost when natural spaces disappear. Because if no one else is protecting the places we care about, then who will?
